These are tense and uncertain days. Tuesday 30th October a woman, Giovanna Reggiani, was attacked and killed not far from the Tor di Quinto railway station. In a hypothetical classification of the city areas at risk, Termini station would probably not be in one of the last positions. Even though not lacking dangers, it presents an internal resident population in which it is hard to distinguish who needs help from who is simulating a necessity. But the feeling that you get crossing the gallery and even the long corridors that bring to the subway is not of danger...

If currently in Rome one newborn in ten is foreign, by 2020 the relationship could be destined to change arriving at one newborn in three. There is no doubt that the foreign presence in Rome has assumed an elevated character of stability. In practise, however, it is rather difficult to provide exact figures. For example: are there more foreigners with a residence permit or illegal immigrants? And how many are not in possession of a lease or regular legal work?
