The pine trees on the Laurentina and villainous mathematics
To put into action the trolley bus project that from here to a year should cross Via Laurentina, the City Council foresees to sweep away a good number of pines. From fifteen to sixty. Closely examined the trunks of these trees, blackened by smog are thin and ancient, makes you think about the streaked skin of a prehistoric animal. In the traffic island there are greying bushes of oleanders, wastepaper and empty plastic bottles. The cars and the buses pass without stopping and you envy the patience of these dry forms of vegetable life.
In this stretch of road, right after Africa Avenue, the Laurentina starts to climb. There’s a smell of food. A rotisserie sells a dish of kebab and a drink at six euros. When in 1947 the Giuliano Dalmata district came to life, the Istrian, Fiuman and Dalmatian refugees arrived. It was a gesture of hospitality of the entire city towards who had suffered. Posted on the showcase of a hairdresser there is a poster with the notice “young worker wanted”. A man with red overalls quickly crosses the Laurentina and disappears down towards the Metro stop.
In a years time these pines may not be here anymore. Who runs the city, usually, reasons with numbers. Who governs asserts that the “spaces for green areas” is progressing and that the trees, for “greater” needs such as traffic circulation that are removed from one area, are always outnumbered by those planted elsewhere in the city. You just have to take a drive around these areas to understand how this type of mathematics is villainous. For any form of life.

Bellissime le foto dei pini e della targa. Credo di esserci stato in quella rosticceria qualche anno fa, in pausa pranzo quando lavoravo in Tiscali. Ci sedevamo nella stanzetta minuscola dietro il bancone e ritornavamo in ufficio untissimi emanando odore di cipolla. Era molto bello.

Complimenti per l'articolo. Noi abitanti della zona siamo veramente delusi e amareggiati per come è stato portato avanti questo progetto. Abbiamo più volte richiesto, come già avviene per la linea 90 nel tratto tra Porta Pia e Termini, che nel tratto dalla metro fino a via dell'Umanesimo non ci sia la corsia riservata ed i cavi dell'alimentazione. Questo per evitare proprio un impatto così negativo sulla zona. Nessuna risposta ci è arrivata.

Mi fa paura la facilità con cui non pensiamo più al futuro, la facilità con cui non stiamo attenti alla vita, la facilità con cui la nuova parola d'ordine di questa società sia diventata:CEMENTO/DISTRUZIONE. Per poter far fare una passeggiata a mia figlia e dare un senso al suo stupore di fronte ai fiori non mi rimane altro che allontanarmi dalla mia amata città.

Forse ho salvato sul blog l'articolo da me scritto, ma evidentemente lo devo ancora pubblicare... però non so dove è finito... vi terrò al corrente!
Comunque ne hanno parlato anche in TV, in diversi canali privati, in quella trasmissione chiamata "voci di quartiere". Era in particolare uno speciale su via dei Corazzieri, ora a senso unico. Senso unico - sembra - approntato proprio nella prospettiva della costruzione dei corridoi per il filobus separati dal traffico.

E' un articolo tratto da una pubblicazione che da quando ha perso il suo inarrivabie creatore non è degno del nome che porta, però il concetto c'è tutto.

molto bello l'articolo. Nel mio pensiero si fa sempre piu' pressante l'ipotesi che al comune ci siano solo una manica di incompetenti; non capiscono il valore di un albero secolare, per loro tagliare un pino e' una cosa da nulla. Quei pini hanno una storia, una loro vita e sopratutto sono dei polmoni di ossigeno senza euguali. Non riescono neanche minimamente a pensare che per far ricrescere un albero del genere ci voglio anni.
